Shower caulk is a flexible seal at a joint that moves, gets wet, and needs to stay clean. It is not permanent. Why new caulk over old caulk usually fails

- Remove the old bead with a suitable scraper or tool.
- Clean residue and soap film from the joint.
- Let the area dry fully; a damp joint can undermine the new bead.
- Check for movement, loose tile, soft drywall, staining, or odor.
- Apply a bathroom-suitable sealant in a continuous bead and tool it neatly.
